You Know This Boogie Is For Real

BBC Beijing Olympics Advert

· ·

Claire saw this advert the other evening and mentioned it to me. I hadn't seen it. She mentioned it to the people at work, and they hadn't seen it either. Claire was certain she'd seen it on TV and hadn't just dreamed it, especially when she could recall so much detail.

Well, hubby and Google to the rescue and I soon found the advert...

I was quite impressed with this. It's very cleverly done and builds in loads of Olympic events into the story. See how many you can spot.

After I found the advert, I realised it had been posted to YouTube by the Beeb themselves and there's actually a whole section of the BBC Sports website dedicated to Monkey and his friends and provides details on the advert, created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett of Gorillaz fame, and downloads for your desktop and mobile phone.

Huh? It still works for me.

What a load of rubbish! The commentators on the Beeb are always complaining that Athletics is not taken seriously enough and it doesn't get the respect it deserves.......well here we go again!!!!! Which makes me think what the hell are they going to cunjure up for London 2012? (Also think about the logo fiasco) Ah yes..... Puss in boots!!!!!

I'm going to have to disagree, Athletics Fan. For a non-avid fan like me (I don't follow the seasons and fixtures too closely) this ad has actually brought the BBC coverage to my attention.

Let's hope they do something significant for 2012 !

It'll be hard for to top the opening from this year, I think the people in Beijing spent more money on fireworks than England has spent on the building of the stadium!

Lintu: I couldn't agree more. I've just finished watching the highlights and the opening ceremony was absolutely amazing. Hopefully I can find the full ceremony online somewhere to watch tomorrow whilst I'm at work as I can't help but feel the BBC chopped out so much.
