Badger-proof Honey Box

This is a badger friendly honey box/hive. Apparently honey badgers are very clever and will use any means possible to get hold of the honey. This is badger friendly in that it doesn't harm the badger, and because it's on a single post, the badger can't climb up and pinch the honey. Note our little albino badger in the bottom corner.

This guy was very tame and the guide said it was perfectly safe to pat the dog, so that's just what Sami did.

Hyenas are way bigger than you think they really are. These animals have huge shoulders. Unfortunately, it was feeding time, so these two guys stuck very close to the fence and we had to stay in the truck.

We were driven through an enclosure with a pack of wild dogs so that we could get an idea of how they hunt. The pack ran around and followed the truck as if they were going to hunt it.

We then went into an enclosure of cheetahs so we could get an idea of how they hunted. Unfortunately, the truck doesn't drive fast enough and there isn't enough space to really get a true idea, but they all followed the truck anyway.

That's Alfred - one very brave individual. Alfred came around with us on the tour - he did all the feeding. And yes, they eat Iams.

For a nominal fee, we could pose with the cheetah on duty that day. Byron was the big chap who was feeling the most photogenic that day. They were even kind enough to take pictures with our camera, and boy did I get my money's worth.
