Kulula Does Flying 101

· 08 Feb '10 ·
Kulula Does Flying 101Claire and I flew with Kulula - a low cost South African airline - on one of our trips to South Africa and we were really impressed with the whole ethos of the company. This is a company that seems to emphasize the "cheerful" part of the old adage: "cheap and cheerful" . At the time of our flight, Kulula ...

Aliens WILL Eat The Fatties First!!!

· 09 Jan '10 ·
Aliens WILL Eat The Fatties First!!!In an attempt to encourage people to join up and lose those excess pounds put on over Christmas, a very large independent health club in Bristol displayed great big banners on the side of the road bearing a little green man and declared: I think this is a brilliant bit of advertising. A little bit of science fiction, light humour ...

The UK's Best Handheld for 40 Years

· 14 Dec '09 ·
The UK's Best Handheld for 40 YearsI saw this very clever advert on TV last night for The Sun newspaper... Pity it was for a pile of dross newspaper, but clever none-the-less.

Phallic "Go Find It" Advert

· 25 Jul '09 ·
Phallic "Go Find It" AdvertSometimes the English are a little fickle about the stuff broadcast on TV and radio. People complain about insults, innuendo and out right misbehaviour (though this last one wasn't actually initially heard by anywhere near as many people as those who complained), but no one seems to have made any complaints about Ford's "Go Find It" advert gracing our TV ...

Bank Advert That's Not for Prudes

· 19 May '09 ·
Bank Advert That's Not for PrudesThis is a very clever advert for a finance company in Germany, though it's not really for children or the prudish, so depending on your company, it may be NSFW too.

Eukanuba Fetch

· 05 May '09 ·
Eukanuba FetchThis is pure genius. Take 5 dogs, train them to carry empty dog food bags in their mouths, teach them to walk without distraction between two points and then set them to work in your local shopping centres. This is exactly what Saatchi & Saatchi in Jo'burg did and I bet it was with tremendous effect. (Source)

Botox Ads Now on UK Telly

· 09 Apr '09 ·
Last night Claire and I were sitting on the sofa chatting with the telly on. We weren't particularly watching it at that point, it was just on in the background. Whilst chatting, I happened to glance at the TV as an advert was finishing. Something made me look. I don't know what. Maybe it was something said during the advert, ...

Christmas is Upon Us Again

· 19 Nov '08 ·
It's quite a bit later than last year, but Christmas is finally upon us. The shops are starting to fill up with Christmas tat and the adverts have started on TV in a big way. I wonder if the "economic downturn" (read that as "the consequences of some super greedy bankers playing silly buggers with other people's money") has caused ...

Spam On American Television

· 27 Oct '08 ·
One of the things that amazed us about TV in the US was the state of advertising on TV. We all know there's a lot of TV in the US and it's continually punctuated by adverts, but Claire and I were surprised about the types of adverts and their frequency. For a start, they actually have adverts for the spam ...
