In an effort to save money and get the public more involved, the current government has setup a website - Spending Challenge - where members of the public can make suggestions on how the government can cut costs and save money. The best ideas will be considered as part of the Spending Review, which will set out four year spending …
It was all go last night on the political front. 5 days after the election, Gordon Brown (former Prime Minister) jumped in his Jaaaaag and drove to Buckingham Palace to hand in his resignation. Not long after David Cameron (Conservative) jumped into his Jaaaaag, popped into to visit the Queen and finally he became Prime Minister.
As predicted by the press and pre-election polls, we've ended up with a hung parliament and the 3 main parties are now doing a fair amount of negotiating behind closed doors to come up with a deal as to who will lead the country.
As you can see the from the results, no single party managed to get past the post…
Well, we've had our first TV election debate and I can't say I'm too impressed. Whilst the media is widely reporting Nick Clegg (Lib Dems) won the first round, I don't think anyone really shone through and came out a winner.

Zapiro has done it again. I think this cartoon sums things up perfectly...
We'll soon get to find out just how good a President Jacob Zuma will turn out to be. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us all and actually turn our to be a good thing for the country. If not, I just hope he's ineffectual rather than destructive.
He's done it, and quite convincingly. In what has been the longest and most expensive US presidential campaign ever, Barack Obama has succeeded in becoming the 44th President of the United States.
Apparently his first decision is what rug to buy for the Oval Office in the White House.
Following the news that Thabo Mbeki was resigning as President of South Africa, 14 other cabinet ministers have followed suit, including the finance minister. Could South Africa be heading for Banana Republic-dom? Who knows, only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, the South Africans are still seeing the funny side of things...
