Apparently, in Germany, people are increasingly distinguishing between English (Englisch) and American English, usually called 'Amerikanisch'. Particularly, when taking about literature, a book is either translated 'aus dem Englischen' or 'aus dem Amerikanischen'. Who'd have thunk it.
